This Preventing Electrical Fires course is intended for rescue authorities, police, persons employed in the insurance sector, and persons responsible for property maintenance.

WHO TRAINING IS SUITABLE FOR

This Preventing Electrical Fires course is aimed at persons working in the rescue services sector, police and property maintenance staff and is part of the Sähköpeto® training programme that comprises three training entireties: basic training (online training), expert training (8 hours) and training into fire investigation for electrical fires (3 days).

BENEFITS OF TRAINING COURSE

The overall intention of the Sähköpeto® programme is to train people in identifying electrical risks and thereby prevent fires caused by electricity, and reduce the damage incurred by people and property in Finland.

The course includes detailed familiarisation into electrical phenomena and electrical ignition mechanisms on the expert level.

The purpose of the training course is to learn the basics of electrical fire investigations and practical surveying methods in order to be able to support fire investigations as an electrical expert with, for instance, the authorities. For participants without electrical sector competence, the intention is to deepen the understanding of electrical phenomena, tasks involved in electrical fire investigations, it special features and requirements.

 

The electrical inspection association Sähkötarkastusyhdistys SÄTY Ry is responsible for producing and implementing the training programme that is funded by the Fire Protection Fund and Palosuojelun Edistämissäätiö [Finnish Foundation for Fire Protection Promotion].

Professional level training is provided by the Finnish Association of Fire Officers in cooperation with the member enterprises of electrical inspection association Sähkötarkastusyhdistys SÄTY Ry. In addition to this training, training sessions are also organised by a few educational establishments that conduct electrical fire investigations.

Participants are awarded a certificate upon successful completion of the training course that acts as the basis for enrolling for electrical fire investigation education.
